I was the rock that held the tide

What happened then

Why do I melt like a castle on the shore

I’ve seen hurt before

I carry wounds deeper than a man’s soul

And I wear them well

Of battles past

Heartbreak and love lost

Then why do my eyes swell

Thinking of those feet in breaking swell

Where I’ve walked before

With you on that fareway shore

Maybe it’s just as well

That I’m the rock that holds the tide
